NewsNation: Massive Ground Beef Recall Over E. Coli Concerns
An Idaho-based food manufacturer, Forward Farms, is recalling approximately 2,855 pounds of ground beef due to potential E. coli contamination. The affected beef, produced on December 16, was distributed to distributors in California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Pennsylvania, and Washington for further sale in stores.
The recalled product, labeled as 'Forward Farms Grass-Fed Ground Beef', has a use-by or freeze-by date of January 13, 2026, and is identified by the establishment number 'EST 2083' on the packaging. The recall was initiated after routine testing revealed the presence of E. coli O26 in the samples.
Despite the recall, no illnesses have been reported to date, according to the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). However, the agency emphasizes the importance of immediate disposal or return of the affected product to prevent potential health risks. Consumers are advised to check their refrigerators and freezers for the recalled ground beef and take appropriate action to ensure food safety.
